"Stud of the Lake"
It all began 18 years ago when McKay and Karisa were invited to a weekend on a houseboat at Lake Powell. Of course, part of the fun-filled weekend included a mandatory "Stud of the Lake" Speedo competition for the men. Determined to win, Mckay began looking for an outrageous swimsuit to wow the audience. Not finding anything wild enough, he had the idea to cut out a hole in the back of a Speedo in order to show his butt crack. Karisa then sewed in a clear plastic window over the "viewing window," and viola, Moonies was born! As McKay strutted his stuff down the runway to the tune of "YMCA," the crowd went wild, and of course, he won the competition. McKay was awarded the title "Stud of the Lake" and bragging rights for life.
Since then, friends and family have repeatedly asked if they could make them Moonies for an upcoming trip or as a gift to others. After many years, they finally decided to get the patent for the viewing window and manufacture Moonies.
McKay always felt sick when he watched Shark Tank because he knew he (literally) was sitting on a million dollar idea. On a whim, he pitched Moonies to Shark Tank, and life has been a blur ever since.
Since taking Moonies public, the response has been overwhelming! People love "Cleavage for Men" and guys love wearing their Moonies. They truly are the most memorable, unique, fun swimsuit ever made because anytime Moonies are worn, a happy memory is made.

The Founders
Karisa and McKay met in New York City where Karisa was working in advertising and McKay was working in finance. They soon were married, and now 18 years and four kids later, they love to travel and explore this incredible planet with their kids.
They love ALL people, they love the earth, they love making memories, and they never miss a moment to jump in a lake! They believe that life is too short and we've all got to lean into discomfort because that is where we GROW. Life is most rewarding and memorable when we get outside our comfort zone. Moonies embodies all these beliefs! McKay and Karisa hope you love Moonies as much as they do.
